Now I am going to start this post by saying I am normally very much a naturalist when it comes to my photography. Once in a while I get an idea for more of a creation photo such as the one we will show in this post. I wanted the mood of the room to come through a bit more and for the image to be a bit more edgy and dark. With the flashes that I had with me, this wasn’t going to happen. So I decided to light this scene with just a flash light and compose the images together after the fact. Again, to all those photographers out there that think “oh, I’ll just fix it in photoshop”, this is not anything like that.

This image was taken at the McSurdy wedding before the ceremony (yes we did their portraits before the ceremony), at the Westmoreland Club in Wilkes Barre, PA. I decided to make a video of the creation of this image just because I thought it would be fun. It’s actually set to a piece of music that I played and recorded some time back in 2002 when I had my home recording setup still setup and was playing around with making some music. So yes, you get to hear a Jeff Dietz original! haha. Don’t be too critical, I am not a piano player haha. I just thought it would be fun to use it as I found it in my files of mp3’s.

Also posted below is the finished image. However in the video it is done in black and white, and I actually decided I like the color version better.
