Sofi, a Junior at Mckinney North High School in Texas is a member of the Girls Varsity Volleyball team. #godawgs . Our Sports Fashion Portraits give students the ability to look and feel like they just stepped off the pages of Sports Illustrated. We developed this idea to mix today’s fashion into the sport that they play in place of being photographed in their uniform. It creates a very unique and creative set of photos like no other. When we started working on planning Sofi’s photo shoot, one of our first tasks was to find the perfect setting that was different and fun. You can’t get much more fun than a sand volleyball court. There just so happened to be a sand court at her local church Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, TX.
We picked out a dress that would give us a lot of movement in the wind and also allow room for jumping around after the ball. This dress worked perfectly and was a good mix of casual and formal.
We planned this photo shoot to start about 1 hour before sunset. This would give us the nice skyline as the sun was preparing to set. Mix in a little off camera flash and we are all set to go.
There was definitely a lot of practice with the action shots, as her sister and mother attended to give us a helping hand throwing and setting the ball.
