Having been a former drummer myself, it was a pleasure to add that to Zane’s Prosper Senior Portrait! We head back to downtown Dallas Texas to photograph Zane from Prosper High School, class of 2021. Check it out below!
As you have probably seen, a lot of our seniors come from Prosper, probably more than any other school. How fun is that? We always still find a way to make their photos unique! This is our first Prosper senior portrait in downtown Dallas Texas. This has been one of my favorite spots for photos of late as you can get a beautiful view of the Dallas skyscrapers as a background.
When we talked with Zane and his parents, we discovered that he has a passion for learning and playing the drums. I thought it would be a really fun idea to bring the drum set into downtown and set it up with the city view in the background.
We wanted to use a basic kit to keep it easy and light but also give it a little bit of an urban vibe. This Pearl drum kit is stunning. The “conventional” look would to just have him sitting at the drumset playing. But that’s boring, isn’t it? And we certainly don’t do boring.
I had the idea to have him standing with sticks in one hand and the snare drum in the other, almost like he had just ripped it off the top. The buildings towering behind him and the upwards angle really add the finishing touches to this photo.
Zane wore for his first outfit, this dark blue suit with a light blue button-down shirt. The tie then brought in elements of purple with the blue that was matched by his pocket accent boutonniere.
For his second and final outfit, he went with a pair of jeans and a button-down shirt that had the interesting and fun accent of little skulls as the pinstripe design.
We have seen a rise in people wanting their Prosper senior portrait taken in downtown Dallas, as well as with other schools. The crowds are very low right now in the city and the streets are mostly free of cars. That allows us to safely do more shots as you see above. Although we still follow all safety measures and cross in crosswalks and only when the street light is right, this has given us more flexibility to explore the city.
What a fun spot in downtown Dallas! I find every time I go into the city, even to this same area, I find things I never knew were there before. There is a tower in the Thanks-Giving square that might look like a paper towel roll, but it gives great views of the city from the top. With Republic Plaza in the background, the light-rail, and more skyscrapers, it has fun backgrounds in any direction that you turn.
In the first photo, I love how the sun sneaks through the building behind him creating a nice hair light.
What’s coming next on the blog? So much!
